KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel on Tuesday said that the government is ready to approve any decision of the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) to end the political impasse, but would not entertain any formal accusations against the president.

Speaking to reporters in Biratnagar, Pokharel said, the government would approve all the decisions of the mechanism for the management of peace process, constitution drafting and integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants.

Claiming that the Maoists don´t have options other than forging consensus with the coalition partners, he said, “The Maoists have become tired of hitting the streets. There is no option left for the Maoists other than settling the issues through consensus,” he said.

The UML leader accused the Maoists of trying to grab power under the pretext of a joint resolution motion in parliament against the president.

Dismissing reports about the formation of a new government, Pokharel said the current government would continue and complete the task of constitution drafting and peace process.
