KHOTANG, Jan 17: Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Sunday that his party is committed to the agenda of "national independence", peace process and constitution-writing.

Speaking at a function in Khotang Sunday, Dahal said that India has not renounced its "big brother attitude" toward Nepal. He said Indian Minister for External Affairs SM Krishna, who returned to New Delhi after wrapping up his three-day official visit to Nepal, assured him that India does not want to interfere in Nepal´s internal affairs. But Dahal argued that India has continued to bully Nepal.

He argued that the current government was formed by those lacking people´s mandate, he said, "What is the significance of holding election by spending millions of rupees from the state coffers?"

Dahal came to Khotang district headquarters to conclude an 18-day youth festival.
