Most of the locals in all 11 VDCs in Rajapur areas have not been able to plant paddy due to obstruction from local Maoist cadres.
On Monday, Bir Bahadur Baduwal of Daulatpur VDC, Krishna Shah, Himo Devi Jaisi, Banu Rana, Jaljaliya Baduwal, Bishnu Thapaliya of Badalpur VDC, among others, reached Area Police Post in Rajapur demanding that they be allowed to plant paddy in their land.
"Local Maoist cadre Rishu Lal Tharu did not let us plant paddy in our land," said Bir Bahadur Baduwal, who arrived at the police post to file a complaint. Bir Bahadur had purchased two bighas of land owned by a local Arjun Sapkota.
"But the Maoists seized the land saying they had already purchased the land from its owner," he added. He had given 10 quintal of paddy last year to the Maoist as a seasonal donation.
Police Inspector at the Area Police Office said they will take action against the guilty as per the complaint filed with them. "Certain individuals have seized the land in the name of the party," he said. "They will be punished soon as they are under police vigil."
A member of Maoists´ Tharuwan State Committee Dipesh Tharu said they seized the land as the mainstream parties deceived his party. "Party´s sister organizations have continued the control over the land seized during the conflict as other parties have breached the past agreement," he said.
