HETAUDA, Oct 2: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said the agreement between the UCPN (Maoist) and his party CPN-UML will end the present political impasse.

Addressing a UML cadres´ gathering in Hetauda on Saturday, he expressed confidence that Saturday’s meeting of Special Committee will make an understanding on the Maoist army combatants. “Maoist saying and doing will be evaluated,” he said.[break]

Saying that ‘Maoist activities’ have been obstructing the peace process, he the main problem of the nation was to take the peace process to a logical end and complete constitution writing.

Political parties should be serious on these crucial tasks, he said, adding "The responsibility for the failure of the political chaos should be owned by those who piled pressure on me to resign."

Parties should come up with a solution of the present deadlock before the withdrawal of Nepali Congress´ prime ministerial candidacy, he said.

UML will not sideline Congress: PM

Meanwhile, PM Nepal said that his party CPN-UML will not sideline the Nepali Congress.

"UML will bring together the Unified CPN (Maoist), Congress, Madhesh-based parties and fringe parties," he said speaking at another function.

"If possible a new government will bring this fiscal year´s budget. But if that doesn´t happen, the present government will bring budget," he said. Parties have been invited for a discussion on budget tomorrow, he said.

The Prime Minister also said that the country´s economy has been in shambles due to absence of full-fledged budget.
