Maoist, small parties bat for new process

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: The Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and its allies have decided to press for a new process to elect prime minister at the special session of the House scheduled to begin from December 19.



A meeting of the Maoist and seven other small parties held at Singha Durbar Wednesday decided to press for new process concluding that the candidacy of Ram Chandra Paudel is no more effective. [break]



According to Pari Thapa of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified), the meeting mainly dwelt on issue related to the election of new prime minister in the special session of the House.



Altogether 187 lawmakers from the UCPN (Maoist) and other small parties had petitioned President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday demanding special session of the House. President Yadav on Monday summoned special session of the House for December 19.



Thapa said they will sit for meeting on Thursday to hold detailed discussion over the issue of prime ministerial election.
