Police said Tek Raj Joshi, district committee member of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) was behind the murder of Indian national Bishal Jain who was abducted and subsequently murdered three weeks ago. Jain was operating his business in district headquarters Mahendranagar. Police made public Joshi, 34, a resident of Suda-2 at a press meet on Sunday.
Jain´s body was found at Daiji-2 on May 20. "Other six or seven accomplices are still at large," said Superintendent of Police (SP) Madhav Nepal.
Police also seized a pistol, some rounds of bullets, a cell phone, and a motorbike from Joshi. Police said the cell phone was used to demand ransom from the Jain family.
Based on a complaint filed by Jain´s kin and other evidences, Joshi was arrested, the police said. Police said they are conducting further investigation into the case.
Meanwhile, the UCPN (Maoist) has expelled Joshi from the party. Issuing a statement, the party stated that Joshi has been expelled from the party and that the party was not involved in the incident.
