Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, who is also the CC chairman, had fixed the meeting for Wednesday after having talked to Dahal, who is an ex-officio CC member, PM´s press advisor Bishnu Rijal said. [break]
Dahal was also absent during the CC´s last meeting on Monday that named Justice Anup Raj Sharma as next chief justice of the Supreme Court. Dahal had later signed the minutes of the decision.
As Dahal did not come to the meeting in the morning, the prime minister had then called the opposition leader and sought clarification. In reply, Dahal said that he had to attend an emergency meeting of his party in the morning, said Rijal.
Rijal further said that Dahal has promised the prime minister that he will attend the next CC meeting scheduled for next Sunday.
According to Rijal, the prime minister also told Dahal that he would not postpone next meeting even if the later does not show up.
The Wednesday meeting was supposed to fill up the vacant post of commissioners at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Public Service Commission, Election Commission and appointing auditor general.
Rijal said that the prime minister had already postponed the CC meeting five times after Dahal was unavailable for the meeting. The Maoists, who term this government unconstitutional, have an avowed policy of not attending any meeting that involves the government.
