KATHMANDU, March 17: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has instructed the party cadres not to rely on the alliance for the upcoming local level election.
"Now we have to contest in the election alone. Let's not rely on the alliance,” said Arjun Thapa, a member of the Liaison Coordination Committee Secretariat, quoted Dahal as saying.
There is no disagreement in the alliance over electoral tie-up:...
Claiming that they would get good votes in the proportional representation election, Chairman Dahal said that they should accept whatever they win in the direct election and move forward. Dahal said that the Nepali Congress leaders are now looking down on the Maoists just like KP Oli did in the past and said that this trend should not be tolerated.
"If the NC continues to look down on us like Oli, they too should be gotten rid of," Dahal said in the program.
According to Thapa, Dahal had instructed him to retaliate if there was any rigging during the election. "If there is rigging in the election, you can retaliate. The party will be held accountable," Thapa said, quoting Dahal.
As the election draws near, Dahal is conducting election training at the provincial level.
Earlier, addressing a number of provincial level gatherings in Biratnagar, Dahal said that an initiative is being taken for an alliance but the election should be contested in its own way if the efforts to forge an alliance failed to materialize. The Maoists have stated that they will conduct training programs in different provinces targeting the election.
