KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Today, the CPN (Maoist Center) has called an official meeting to take an official decision on the matter of the new president. The meeting will be held at 4PM on the premises of the party office.


On Sunday evening, Prime Minister and Maoist Center chairman Pushpa Dahal held a discussion with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba along with five top leaders in Baluwatar.

It is said that today's meeting will make an official decision on who the party will be supporting in the presidential election that will be held in March. UML has been claiming the presidency. According to the agreement between UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal on December 25, UML has claimed the post of president.


But Prime Minister Dahal, who has been making efforts for national consensus, is in the mood to make the President from the Nepali Congress. Nepali Congress, which supported him in a vote of confidence, is also claiming the presidency. 


In this context, on Sunday evening, top Nepali Congress leaders met Prime Minister Dahal. When Nepali Congress asked him for help, the Prime Minister replied that a decision would be reached after discussion within the party. There is a program for the registration of candidacy on February 25 for the presidential election to be held on March 9.
