According to the agreement between UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal on December 25, UML has claimed the post of president.

But Prime Minister Dahal, who has been making efforts for national consensus, is in the mood to make the President from the Nepali Congress. Nepali Congress, which supported him in a vote of confidence, is also claiming the presidency.

In this context, on Sunday evening, top Nepali Congress leaders met Prime Minister Dahal. When Nepali Congress asked him for help, the Prime Minister replied that a decision would be reached after discussion within the party. There is a program for the registration of candidacy on February 25 for the presidential election to be held on March 9.
