“In-laws expect something and the husband expects something else for which I’m not prepared at the moment,” she says confidently.
Shova Tripathi is an RJ at Image Channel in Kathmandu and Nepal Radio broadcast from London, a VJ in Channel Nepal, singer, program producer, and model. She has sung many Nepali folk songs and has had worked as a model in nine modern and two dozens of folk song videos.

When asked which two folk songs are her favorites, she says they are “Khotang Jilla Diktel Bazaara” and “Khori ta Khori.” Being a singer herself, Tripathi is very choosy about singers and musicians.
“Khotang Jilla” was sung by Tulsi Parajuli and Lochan Bhattarai.
“I like that song because it’s one of the evergreen songs that are never going to die off,” she says. However, listening to folk songs was not her choice in the beginning.
“Dohori song program was the only program I had when I joined Image Channel, but gradually it became a way of life for me. Now I love listening to Dohori songs,” she says, naming a few songs she can’t stay without listening to.
Her next favorite is “Khori Khori.” This song was composed and sung by Khadga Garbuja. Tripathi loves this song because of its lyrics and composition as well.
“Even if he’s physically challenged, he composes fantastic music which can be an inspiration to thousands of people in and around the nation,” Tripathi says, and admits that she herself has been greatly inspired by the singer. Shova believes in the saying “Nothing is Impossible.”
“All I’ve achieved in my life is because of God and the confidence I had in myself. No matter how much depression I had to go through, people are finally recognizing my works, and I’m looking forward to do something for the country by working in my own simple ways,” says Tripathi confidently.
