A tripartite talk was held between representatives of agitating doctors, the hospital administration and District Administration Office (DAO), Kaski before the agitating intern doctors called off their strike.[break]
As many as 40 intern doctors at the hospital had forcibly closed the outdoor patient department (OPD) of the hospital on Monday affecting more than 600 patients.
“We withdrew the strike after the hospital administration agreed to form a committee to address our demands," said an intern doctor. A three-member taskforce has been formed to settle the issue, he added.
Likewise, the hospital administration has agreed to appoint medical officers in the vacant posts, said another agitating doctor. He also warned that they would resort to stringent protests if their demands are not met within the next 30 days.
The intern doctors have demanded that their allowances be increased to Rs 12,000 per month.
The Kathmandu University affiliated Manipal Teaching Hospital is currently providing Rs 6,930 per month in allowance to intern doctors.
