Manipal Hospital resumes operation

POKHARA, Feb 5: Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara resumed its operation after representatives from hospital management and workers´ union reached an agreement on Thursday afternoon.



Health services in the hospital had remained closed for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday due to strike called by the health workers and staff in the hospital.



The union agreed to resume work after the management pledged to fulfill their demand.



They launched the protests demanding that the hospital management provide them minimum wages as set by the government and give them permanent status after 240 days of service.



About 750 persons are working at the 700-bed hospital.
