It’s finally that time of the year again when we get to savor kilos and kilos of mangoes in any way that we can. And although mangoes taste just as good by itself, it does not hurt to try out something new with it. We bring you a bunch of easy recipes using mangoes that you can make in your kitchen.
Mango curry
This classic South Asian recipe is perfect with a bowl of rice. The sweetness of the ripe mangoes goes really well with the sharp taste of chilies, turmeric, and salt and results in a dish that explodes with flavors.
Ingredients
Ripe mangoes
Coconut
Raisins
Sugar
Cloves
Sprig curry leaves
Turmeric powder
Mustard seeds
Red chilies – dried
Salt
Ghee
Water
Directions
Peel out the mangoes and dice them into once inch cubes.
Grate coconut into fine shreds.
In a pan over medium heat, add in the ghee and fry the red chilies and the mustard for about a minute till they start crackling.
Add in the grated coconut and turmeric and fry until the ingredients inside the pan turn brown.
Now add diced mangoes, sugar, cloves and salt and stir for about 30 seconds.
Pour some water into a pot, cover it with a lid and let it simmer for about 12 minutes.
Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot.

Green mango salad
Try out this particular recipe when you “accidentally” pick out raw and green mangoes. This is an interesting spin-off on the archetypal salad recipe. Trust us, it is not just another bland salad.
Ingredients
Green mangoes – peeled and shredded
Red onion – preferably small
Preferred sauce
Lime juice
Sugar
Butter beans (string beans or French beans also work)
Chilies
Mint leaves
Cilantro
Roasted peanuts or cashews – optional
Directions
Place a clean paper towel over a big bowl and place the grated mango shreds above it.
Slice the red onions and put it over the shredded mangoes and set that bowl aside for a while.
Whisk together sauce, lime juice and sugar making sure that the sugar dissolves properly.
Cut butter beans into small slices, slice the chilies and add them into the above mixture to make the dressing.
Mix the dressing together to bring out all of its flavors.
Place the mango shreds at the center of a plate and add the dressing on top.
Garnish with cilantro, mint leaves, and roasted peanuts and cashews.
Mango sorbet
Mango sorbet is the perfect summer refreshment and cools you down during extremely hot summer days. Here, we present a very simple recipe for it that will help you make the best sorbet you will ever have.
Ingredients
Ripe mangoes – peeled and diced
Powdered sugar
Lime Juice – optional
Salt
Water
Directions
Blend the diced mango pieces until you get a smooth texture.
Pour it through a mesh strainer into another clean container to get your desired amount of puree – stir around on top of the mesh strainer if big lumps start forming.
Add in the sugar slowly and in small amounts and whisk it in properly until completely dissolved.
Whisk in the salt and lemon juice too.
Add it into an ice cream maker and freeze it for about three hours before you serve it.
If you do not have an ice cream maker, pour this mixture into a shallow freezer-safe container and place it in the freezer.
Every 30 minutes, take the sorbet mix out stir it and mash up any frozen parts with a fork.
Try to level out the mixture more and more every time you stir it.
Your sorbet is ready to be served once it’s firm.
Mango-ginger cocktail
Make this cocktail at home the next time you have friends over and wow them with your special bartending skills. The sharp taste of ginger works phenomenally well with the sweetness of mango and the freshness cilantro provides. Also, this takes just under 10 minutes to make.
Ingredients
Fresh ginger knobs
Diced ripe mangoes
Cilantro leaves
Sugar
Water
Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Tequila
Ice cubes
Directions
Add equal amounts of water and sugar in a pan over low heat and stir constantly until the sugar melts completely. This is the simple syrup. Let it cool it down before you use it.
Muddle the ginger knobs in a glass and drain out the juice with a fine mesh strainer. This is the ginger juice.
Mix together mango, cilantro, lemon juice, ginger juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker and give it a few good shakes.
Add in the ice cubes and tequila and shake again.
Pour it into a glass and garnish with additional cilantro if you want to.
