Man thrashed for 'kidnapping attempt'

KATHMANDU, July 5: Tension erupted in Gongabu on Sunday evening after locals seized a person who allegedly attempted to kidnap a child.



Locals severely thrashed the man, aged around 30, when police intervened and rescued the man, who had already collapsed. The man is receiving treatment at TU Teaching Hospital. Five police were injured when the locals hurled stones. Police used dozens of tear-gas canisters to disperse the protestors. The situation was still tense till 9 p.m.
