Man shot near UML function venue

LAHAN, March 23: A man was injured in firing on Friday night near a place where the CPN-UML was holding a function on Saturday.



Shova Yadav, a security guard of Pashupati Adarsha Higher Secondary School in the district, was shot by an unidentified group on Friday night. A group of three individuals had shot Yadav on the school premises. He has sustained injury to his left leg.[break]



CPN-UML senior leader K P Oli, who was to attend the function, remained absent at the function Saturday. The party´s politburo member Dharmanath Prasad Sah addressed the function. CPN-UML district said that Oli could not attend the function due to ill-health. "It was just a mere coincidence. The firing has no connection with Oli´s absence," said Satya Narayan Yadav, district leader of the party.



Manoj Neupane, the chief of police in Siraha district said local hooligans were involved in the firing. He also said that their preliminary investigation shows that there is no connection between the firing incident and the CPN-UML´s function. He said the culprits have been traced and they will be arrested soon.
