Man injured during protest dies after 3 months

BIRGUNJ, Jan 3: Mohammad Mehruddin, 50, of Akolba VDC, who got injured in a police firing during Gaur demonstrations in Rautahat three months ago, died at Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-regional Hospital on Sunday. Mahruddin was injured on September 17 in a clash between protesters and policemen. Doctors pronounced him dead at 1:05 pm on Sunday.

According to the doctors involved in his treatment, he had received bullets above his knee. He was in a very critical situation the day he was hit with the bullet.

He was airlifted to Bir Hospital in Kathmandu. After 26 days of the treatment in the capital, he had returned home. According to the deceased's mother Arbun Nesha, after a few days of his return from Kathmandu, his wound developed an infection. Although he was admitted to Gaur Hospital following the infection, he was referred to Birgunj for further treatment. He died in the course of treatment.
