KATHMANDU, March 2: Police have arrested an individual accusing him of being involved in placing a suspicious-looking pressure cooker, and creating a bomb hoax in front of the federal parliament building at New Baneshwar on February 28.
The man in custody has been identified as Subash Mahat, 21, a resident of Bhumlu Rural Municipality-2. The suspicious-looking pressure cooker was later disposed of and was found to contain just papers and bricks.

The US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement was ratified through parliament on February 27. In response to the government’s decision, various political parties had warned of conducting street protests and announced a Nepal Banda on Monday. On the same day, a bomb hoax was created outside the parliament building.
According to the Crime Branch of Nepal Police, two individuals on a bike had left the fake bomb as captured by CCTV cameras. In the course of investigation, Mahat was arrested by the police along with the motorcycle from Gaushala, and further investigation into the incident is underway, according to the crime branch.
