KATHMANDU, March 28: Gyanendra Malla hit a century on the second day of the three-day-match between CAN XI and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and put the match further out of reach of the touring side. CAN was 377/5 in 111 overs at the end of the day’s play with a lead of 246 runs. [break]

Malla, who started the day on 30, hit 14 fours and 2 sixes in his 228-ball 141. His partner Shakti Gauchan (51) batted patiently to play out 176 balls. The partnership between Malla and Gauchan had already fetched 152 runs when Gauchan misjudged a Min Patel delivery to be clean bowled.

No 5 Sarad Vesawkar came to the crease when CAN’s score was 257/4. Vesawkar(88) and Malla’s partnership added 88 more runs to CAN’s total.

Luke O’Reilly was the pick of the bowlers for MCC as he bagged the prized wickets of Vesawkar and Malla.

Paras Khadka (48*) and Basanta Regmi (12*) will continue CAN’s innings on the third and final day of the match on Sunday.
