According to Kiran Rana, a member of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the UK authority granted transit visa to Malla this morning facilitating his flight to the Caribbean nation to participate in the ICC World Cricket League Division 3.[break]
On Tuesday, the British authority had denied visa to Malla, citing conflicting date of birth records and stating that he needed to go through an interview to confirm the accurate date.
The British authorities had granted transit visa to other Nepali cricket players and the team flew to Bermuda via London Tuesday itself.
“The British High Commission in New Delhi granted visa to Malla after he went through interview,” Rana told. According to him, arrangements are being made to send Malla to Bermuda today itself.
With uncertainty about Malla’s participation in the tournament, CAN had included Naresh Budhayair in the team as a possible replacement of Malla.
Nepali team is scheduled to play a practice match against Bermuda XI on April 25 before starting the Division 3 campaign on April 28 against the USA.
Division 3 is the most important tournament for Nepal at present as the top two teams of Division 3 will not only earn promotion to Division 2 but also progress to the World Cup Qualifiers 2014.
