Maldhunga bus accident: 10 airlifted to different hospitals

GALKOT, Jan 17: Out of seven people killed in Maldhunga bus accident, identities of five have been ascertained. 


Seven people were killed and 32 others were injured when Narayangadh bound bus (Ga 1 Kha 6108) from Beni met with an accident at Maldhunga this morning. 


The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Pun and Bishmaya Pun of Pakhapani of Myagdi district, Tika Pariyar of Jaljala rural municipality of Parbat district, his wife Seti Pariyar and Shanti KC of Baglung. 



Of the injured, two have been airlifted to Grande Hospital, Kathmandu, one to Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara, and seven to Chhauni Hospital, Kathmandu, said Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Deepak Regmi.

The remaining 10 injured have been referred to Manipal Teaching Hospital. A passenger Raj Bahadur Singh told Rastriya Samachar Samiti that the accident took place when the over-speed bus fell some 200 meters off the road. A total of 42 passengers were travelling in the bus. 


Gandaki Province Chief Minister saddened by Maldhunga bus mishap 


Meanwhile, a report from Balewa says the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has expressed sorrow over the bus accident which took place at Maldhunga of Parbat this morning. 


Paying tributes to the people who lost their lives in the accident, Chief Minister Gurung has wished speedy recovery to those injured in the incident. 


In a press release, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families. He also thanked all the people involved in the rescue works.
