In the meeting hosted jointly by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Malaysia Nepal Business Council (MNBC), the Malaysian delegates showed interest to invest in tourism and technology sector. [break]
Malaysian delegates, led by Pardip Kumar Kukreja, president of MNBC, requested Nepal to maintain political stability and identify potential sectors of investment to attract investment from Malaysia.
The Malaysian delegates asked Nepal for investment friendly climate after FNCCI officials asked the delegation to invest in sectors like water resources, human resource development, agriculture, tourism, information technology (IT) and education and health.
Presenting his paper on ´Investment Opportunities of Nepal´, senior vice president of FNCCI Suraj Baidhya insisted that Nepal has investment friendly atmosphere on par with neighboring nations even though political situation here is unstable.
“We will welcome and assist Malaysia investment as the government has liberal policy regarding foreign investment,” he added.
Taking note of existing trade deficit between the two countries, the FNCCI officials also stressed on the need to identify and promote Nepali exportable items to the South East Asian economy.
Speaking on the occasion, FNCCI President Kush Kumar Joshi said Malaysia could be a potential market for Nepali products. He also assured that FNCCI would work together with Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (MCC) and MNBC to promote bilateral trade.
