KATHMANDU, April 17: Issuing a seven-point stay order, the Supreme Court on Friday directed the government to arrange free transportation service to the citizens stranded in various cities, including in Kathmandu to reach their homes.
A division bench of justices Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Sapana Pradhan Malla directed the government to arrange free transportation services to the stranded citizens to their homes.

The bench order came in response to a writ petition filed by a group of lawyers, including Prakash Mani Sharma. The bench also directed the government to carry out proper COVID-19 testing and arrange quarantine.
Moreover, it also directed the government to arrange special protection for elderly citizens, women, and children. The bench also directed the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs to collect accurate records of the citizens stranded in various cities and those who wish to go home.
Stating that the people have widespread fear of the virus, the bench also directed the authorities to provide proper psychological consultation services.
The apex court also directed to provide relief, arrange for ICU medical services and expand PCR in the health centers across the country.
The Supreme Court has also asked the government to inspire young people to engage in agricultural productions by providing subsidies if needed.
