Mahottari DDC office padlocked

JANAKPUR, June 16: Eight political parties have padlocked the Mahottari District Development Committee (DDC) office for the last week saying hundreds of millions have been embezzled in coordination by several political parties and DDC employees.



The padlocking of the office has affected several development and other works which must be completed by the end of the fiscal year.



Sadbhawana Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist), Rastriya Janashakti Party, Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Madhes) led by Bhagya Nath Gupta, Nepal Communist Party (United), Dalit Janajati Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Nepal) who united in an attempt to make Mahottari a corruption-free district are responsible for the padlocking, demanding action against those involved in the corruption and making public the report of a high-level probe committee formed to investigate corruption in the office.



They have also demanded dissolution of an illegally formed users´ group and investigation into the irregularities in Rs 25 million by the DDC during the agitation that started from June 7.
