Mahashivaratri being celebrated

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Mahashivaratri, a Hindu festival is being celebrated across the country on Monday.



All the doors of the Pashupatinath Temple were opened early in the morning to welcome thousands of devotees who throng the temple on this auspicious day.[break]



According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), to facilitate the worshippers and ensuring their security, various majors have been taken.



The PADT has also set up four queues for the devotees so that they perform their puja without any hassle.



Around 600 security personnel have been deployed to prevent any unwanted incident.



According to the reports the number of saints to visit Pashupatinath Temple this year is far less compared to the last year.



This year only 3,700 saints had reached the temple for Shivaratri till yesterday, informed Narottam Baidya, treasurer at the PADT.



The festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is celebrated by all the Hindus.
