Nepali karatekas Shobha Balami (senior girls´ 50 kg), Manisha Moktan (senior girls´ 67 kg) and Sumitra Sulu (senior girls´ 60 kg) won gold medals in their respective categories while Rajani Gore of India won gold in senior girls´ 55 kg in the championship held at the National Sports Council covered hall in Kathmandu. In the senior boys´ section, Kishor Rai (55 kg), Rajiv Ranjit (67 kg), Nirjan Khadka (75 kg), Rabi Kumar Shah (60 kg), Gyan Bahadur Tamang (50 kg) and Indian karateka Himanshu Sharan (84 kg) won gold medals in their respective events.
In the junior boys´ section, Laxman Basnet (60 kg), Suwarna Wasti (55 kg) and Sharan Khatri (45 kg) won gold medals in their respective weight categories. Similarly, Rojita Ranjit (55 kg), Mingmar Lama (60 kg), Kusum Khadka (45 kg), Shramika Bhujel (50 kg) and India´s Rachana K Shah (75kg) claimed first position in their respective weight categories of junior girls´ section.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama and Nepal Karate Federation Dawa Gurung handed over medals and prizes to the winners of the championship. Altogether 880 young karatekas from Nepal, India and Bangladesh had vied for 52 gold medals in the championship.
