Skylark College of Management and Technology located at Dhobi Dhara offers degrees from the University of Madras in India.[break]
“We’ve been corresponding with the University of Madras for the last four years and are eager to start our first batch,” says D R Shrestha, Chairman. After much discussion, Skylark will be running classes and courses in Nepal but using the format of Madras University. According to the Chairman, all course work, books, and syllabi will be identical to the one in India. In fact, final exams will also be conducted from Madras University and will be graded there as well.
“We’ll try to create the same environment so it’ll be like studying at the University of Madras but having classes here,” Shrestha added.
On top of that, “We’ll also be having lecturers coming from Madras University,” says Shrestha. With programs like that and the option of having an exchange program between India and Nepal, students will be able to enjoy the perks of a well-established institution while saving on money. “Education is expensive, and as families are spending so much money to go abroad, Skylark would be more cost effective,” shares Shrestha.

Tuition for the Master’s degree is Rs. 275,000 and range between Rs. 250,000 – 290,000 for the other disciplines. The fees are to be paid in six installments so that all finances are cleared before the final semester. Skylark also offers merit-based scholarships for three students for either 100%, 50% and 25% funding.
Skylark offers courses in Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA), Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), and Master’s in Science in Information Technology (MSc IT). The Bachelor courses will run for three years, and the Master’s courses for two years.
On top of these, for those people who have at least three years of work experience have the option for applying to the Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) program which is a one-year course. If you have just completed your 10+2 and are planning on obtaining an MBA, you can apply for the five-year Integrated Masters in Business Administration (IMBA). Each course is starting out with 30 seats with either four and a half hour-classes in the morning or three-hour sessions in the evening.
One more factor that sets Skylark apart is that, instead of annual admissions, a new batch will begin every six months. Admission will generally open around June/July and January/February. Skylark is currently accepting applications for the forthcoming semester which is scheduled to begin this February. The application process entails Rs 500 application fee followed by filling out an application form, sitting for an admission test which is in the GMAT format, participating in a group discussion and a personal interview.
