Madi protesters held ahead of Dahal visit

CHITWAN, Feb 28: Police on Thursday took under control the injured of the Bandarmudhe bus explosion occurred seven years ago, who were planning a protest during UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s visit to the Madi area.



Police nabbed  the protesters including Krishna Adhikari, a victim who was injured in the insurgency-era explosion carried out by the rebel Maoist party, to thwart the possible protest during Dahal´s visit to the area. A total of 38 people had lost their lives and 70 others were injured in the explosion. [break]



Earlier, Dahal had canceled several of his trips to Madi citing security reasons. He had said he would meet the families of the victims to apologize for the bloody incident and provide them relief. Dahal has arrived here to inaugurate the Madi fair.
