The team comprises senior MPRF-Democratic politician Sarat Singha Bhandari, Chairperson of Sadbhawana party (Anandi Devi) Sarita Giri, UCPN (Maoist) central committee member Ram Kumar Sharma and CPN-UML politburo member Ramchandra Jha. [break]
According to Yadav, the team will hold discussions with leaders of various political parties, indigenous groups and others on Madhesi causes. “We will hold talks with all quarters of society that support the issues raised by the Madhes-based political parties,” Yadav added.
He maintained that they would forge common stance on Madhesi issues and address them in the new constitution.
Yadav claimed they have been holding informal talks with various indigenous groups in a bid to accommodate them into the newly formed alliance.
According to Giri the alliance will organize a ´broader interaction´ on Madhesi issues in the capital on April 30.
“We will hold discussion on cooperation with all quarters of society to exert pressure for our common concerns in accordance with the seven-point concept paper of the alliance,” said Giri while explaining the relevance of the interaction.
Madhesi leaders said Monday´s meeting also formed 11-member committee to organize the interaction. Similarly, the meeting endorsed a code of conduct for the leaders associated with the alliance. “As we belong to various political parties the code of conduct will bind us all,” Giri said.
Madhesi lawmakers on April 19 had formed the BMF to press for their demands in the new constitution.
The alliance has demanded guarantees on autonomous Madhes state with the right to self-determination, delineation of federal states based on identity, proportional representation of all groups of people in the state organs and equitable distribution of powers and natural resources, among others.
