KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have warned that Madhes will secede from Nepal if discrimination against Madhesi people continues.
Speaking at an all-party meeting at Sheetal Niwas yesterday, Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur warned the major political parties that “Madhes will not remain under this regime. It might secede from Nepal."
Meanwhile, Thakur urged the political parties to shade the caste-based attitude and stop discriminating against the Madhesi people through the constitution amendment bill.
Similarly, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav expressed dissatisfaction saying that the constitution amendment bill is incomplete. Demanding alteration in the amendment bill, Yadav said, “The discrimination in Madhes is on and this should be addressed through amendment in the constitution amendment bill.
