KATHMANDU, April 16: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Shankar Nayak has remarked that the announcement of the Madhes-centric political parties for fresh agitations against the upcoming local level elections was nothing more than a drama. 

The Madhesi Front demands the election be held after considering amendments in the new constitution. 

Speaking at an interaction program held here today, Minister Nayak said, "It is surprising to see the Madhesi Front announcing agitation at a time when the government is utmost flexible to address their genuine demands." 

Urging the public to be assured of the long overdue elections to be held within the stipulated time, Minister Nayak stated that the second constitution amendment bill registered at the parliament had accommodated all the demands raised by the Front.
 
According to him, the Front has shown agreement in principle with the government for elections to be held either in a go or in two rounds. 

Similarly, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Rijal urged the government to enable environment for the Front to contest in the elections as he argued that without the Front on board, the elections could not be held. 

Rijal also spoke of the need for the Prime Minister to create an environment of trust between the Front and government by fulfilling the promises he made with the Front to heed their demands. 

Likewise, CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bhim Bahadur Rawal asserted that the elections should not be postponed at all and the Front should vie in the elections by assessing the public mandate. 

Rawal claimed that the government unilaterally registered the constitution amendment bill despite the disagreement of the Front. 

He clarified that UML has not agreed to the second constitution amendment bill as stated by the government. RSS
