CHITWAN, April 22: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, today expressed his belief that the Madhes –centric parties will also participate in the local level elections slated for May 14.
Speaking to journalists here, Minister Mahat shared that the government was intensifying talks with the Madhes-based parties and added that the election will be held on May 14 and in a single phase.
He said the Madhesi parties were advancing dialogue and preparations for the local polls simultaneously.
Stating that the government has registered an amendment proposal at the Parliament with modifications to resolve the problems of the Madhesi parties, Mahat emphasized the readiness on part of all for the polls.
Minister Mahat said the local polls will take place under participation of all the parties as it would devolve the rights centered at Singha Durbar to lower level. He added further that the foreign countries are also supportive of holding the local polls.
The government is working to hold the elections in a peaceful manner, Minister Mahat shared. On the different note, Mahat said the state visit of President Bidya Devi Bhandari has helped in broadening the bilateral relations between Nepal and India. RSS
