KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Madan Kharel, executive chairman of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), tendered his resignation on Sunday.
An official at the tourism ministry confirmed that Kharel handed over his resignation letter to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai Sunday morning.
Kharel had been receiving criticism for his 'unsatisfactory performance' while at the helm of the national flag carrier.
Minister Bhattarai had repeatedly warned the NAC management that he would change the leadership if there is no progress in work performance. In multiple instances, he told officials to quit if they cannot handle their jobs properly.
The ministry had been openly criticizing about work performance of the NAC management.
