The auspicious occasion of Rato Machhindranath procession was worked out by astrologists Kirti Kiran Joshi and Purna Mangal Joshi. Rato Machhindranath is considered a god by Hindu and Buddhist people.
As per the age-old tradition of keeping Machhindranath in Bungmati for six months and in Patan the remaining period every year, the date has been calculated.
