Composer and lyricist, Suk Gurung passed away on Sunday. He was 58. Resident of Pokhara in Lekhnath Municipality, he had been bed ridden and suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure for a long time.
He had penned the song 'Chhekyo Chhekyo Deurali Danda' for the popular band Nepathaya, which had played vital role in the rise of the band. Nepathaya’s frontman, Singer Amrit Gurung, shared his condolences via his official Facebook page, which stated, “On August 26, 2019, I went to visit Lyricist, composer Suk Gurung accompanied by musician Bikram Gurung Dai at his home. That was our last meeting. During our early days, he did us a great kindness by letting us to sing ‘Chhekyo Chhekyo’. I am saddened at his death. I pray that his soul may find peace and offer my condolences to his family."

Suk Gurung had been admitted a week ago to Chirayu Hospital, Pokhara. Three years ago, a committee was formed to assist for his treatment. According to Bhopal Gurung, secretary of the committee Suk’s both kidneys had not worked for a long time and he had undergone dialysis time and again.
He was active in Nepali musical field, while living in Pokhara, who was originally from Lamjung. His last rites were done the same day at Lekhnath Municipality. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
