Lumbini claims eighth Super League title

BHAIRAHAWA, Feb 3: Lumbini Khukuri Club secured its eighth title defeating Butwal XI Cricket Club by seven wickets in Rupandehi Super League’s final match held at Bhairahawa on Sunday.

BHAIRAHAWA, Feb 3: Lumbini Khukuri Club secured its eighth title defeating Butwal XI Cricket Club by seven wickets in Rupandehi Super League’s final match held at Bhairahawa on Sunday. 


Khukuri Club completed the chase of 98 runs in 20th over after dismissing Butwal XI for 97 runs bowling first in the final. PrajwalThapa top-scored for the winning team with

an unbeaten 47 runs. Likewise, Sandeep Rajali stayed not out on 36 runs off 33 deliveries to secure the win.


Earlier, Ishan Pandey had scored 21 runs which was the most by a batsman in the first innings. Player-of-the-match LalBahadurAdhikari, Ajay Loniya, ShahbagAlam and DheerajShahi shared four, three, two and a wicket each to help bundle-out Butwal XI for 97 runs in 41st over. The winner of the league bagged a cash prize of Rs 80,000 whereas the runner-up receivedRs 40,000.


The player-of-the-series and best batsman of the league, Shankar Rana, collected cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. The best bowler of league Ajay Kumar Loniya of the winning team and emerging player Santosh Yadav of Melbourne Cricket Club earned Rs 5,000 each.
