KATHMANDU, July 3: The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) has announced its backing for the coalition of the Nepali Congress (NC) and the UML.
According to LSP leader Sarbendra Nath Shukla, the party's meeting at Babarmahal-based office on Wednesday decided to support the new coalition. During the meeting, Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur briefed the party leaders about the recent developments and his discussion with NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday.
While backing the coalition, Shukla clarified that no decision has been made yet regarding the party's participation in the government.
"We haven't formally discussed joining the government with the NC and the UML. However, we've chosen to support them due to their advocacy on issues like constitutional amendments," Shukla said.
He said that further discussions with the major parties will occur as the formation of the new government progresses.
