The rice that arrived at customs during Dashain was tested by the Food Import Export Quality Certification Office located at the Nepalgunj Integrated Check Post.

During the testing, the imported rice was found to be of low quality as per the mandatory standards set by the Government of Nepal for rice.

After the rice was found to be of low quality, the department sent a letter to the Nepalgunj customs office to return the rice to the exporting country. In accordance with this, the customs office has already sent the rice back, stated Spokesperson Maharjan.
