Love Never Dies

No longer can I look you in the eye.
By Bhumika Surana

I never had a sense of its beginning
so subtle was it
a silent merging
a growing into
a becoming part of

Realisation dawned
far too late
I loved you way too much

Falling in Love

No longer can I look you in the eye
the glow in mine - a dead give-away
As always, you slap my shoulder
I now tingle
secretly - it feels like a caress.

Forcing  myself to act natural, I
blow a speck out of your eye
whack you on your back
poke your cheek in mock anger
point out pretty girls
engage in the usual banter
argue
fight
laugh

Yet I never look you
in the eye

The charade continues, 'coz
love never dies, neither
does the pain.
