KATHMANDU, August 14: The vehicles carrying garbage from Kathmandu to Banchare Danda have been stopped by the locals again. According to Sita Rai, head of the Environment Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), the vehicles carrying garbage were stopped again this morning.
“The vehicles should go through three municipalities to reach the landfill site. In every municipality, there seems to be a problem,” Rai said. “In Tarakeswar Municipality, locals have obstructed the dumping of garbage stating that a vehicle carrying garbage killed a goat.”
Earlier, KMC Mayor Balendra Shah had said that 250 to 350 garbage trucks will reach Banchare Danda daily from today if there were no obstruction from the local residents. He had also promised not to repeat the plight of Sisdol in Banchare Danda.
