NEPALGUNJ, Aug 22: After the main canal of Sikta Irrigation Project collapsed during testing two years ago, voices were raised from all corners demanding investigation.
Subsequently, many investigation teams were formed, including those from the ministry as well as the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). However, none of them have concluded their investigation.
So far, there is only one report on investigation of Sikta project. Instead of taking action against the guilty, the government has instead given more responsibilities to the accused and the contractor.

So far, there is only one report on investigation of Sikta project. Instead of taking action against the guilty, the government has instead given more responsibilities to the accused and the contractor.
Neither the main contractor CTC Kalika JV has submitted any proposal to solve the issue nor has any action been initiated against accused.
The problem in Sikta canal kept on repeating due to low quality of works owing to irregularities.
Locals are curious to know the findings of the investigation team of CIAA and the ministry.
They are hopeful that their reports would be unbiased as it would play a big role in punishing those involved in irregularities.
“We are hopeful that the report would lead to the arrest of those involved in irregularities in the national pride project,” said Dhani Kumari Khatri, deputy chairperson of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality.
Around 35 kilometers of Sikta's western part lies in Rapti Sonari.
