DANG, April 18: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs Kamal Thapa has said that talks were ongoing to bring all political parties on board the local level elections.

At an interaction organized by Reporters Club Dang on Tuesday, Thapa said that the government was working to make environment conducive for polls by taking the Madhes-centric parties into confidence. "I urge the protesting parties to reconsider once as the upcoming elections carried historical importance. Nothing wrong has happened so far. Outlet can be given based on consensus." Thapa said hinting at holding elections in two phases if Madhes-centric parties were also taking part in the elections.

"All preparations for polls were over and there is no doubt over the elections taking place," Thapa claimed adding that the polls would not be postponed at any cost.

Thapa, who is also the chair of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, said that his party would be compelled to take to the streets if the Election Commission did not revoke the decision to remove the provision of Hindu state and constitutional monarchy from the party's statute.

Meanwhile, DPM Thapa also directed the chiefs of different government offices here in Tulsipur to spare nothing for holding the polls in a free and fearless manner. RSS
