KATHMANDU, May 13: Local level election is being held today.
The Election Commission has fixed the time for voting from 7 AM to 5 PM.
EC to estimate the number of parties contesting polls
A total of 1,77,333,723 voters from across the country are eligible to participate in the polling. Out of which, the number of male voters is 8.9 million and the number of female voters is 8.7 million. They are casting their votes from 21,955 voting centers in 10,756 polling stations. A total of 109,088 staff members and 65,865 volunteers have reached their polling centers with required election materials.
Elections are being held at all 753 local levels across the country. A total of 35,221 people's representatives will be directly elected in all 753 local levels. According to EC, 145,011 candidates have registered their nominations across the country for these positions.
Of the total 79 political parties registered to participate in the election, a total of 65 political parties are contesting the local level election.
