KALIKOT, April 15: The chief of the District Livestock Service Office (DLSO), Kalikot, Dr Brajkishwor Thakur has been accused of embezzling a large sum of money meant for buying livestock and providing agricultural grants to farmers.
Thakur has apparently misappropriated a large sum of money sanctioned for buying stationeries, hatchery, goats and providing agricultural grants to farmers. His two-year journey as the chief of the DLSO has been full of ups and downs. In fact, most the farmers are not satisfied with his work. They have time and again accused Thakur of looting them instead of working for their welfare.
He apparently took a huge advantage of an agricultural and food storage program which the locals say proved more fruitful for him instead of the farmers. The locals say he has done everything from buying things to making fake bills to misuse the program's budget.
Misleading Statistics of Livestock in Nepal
The budget sanctioned for the DLSO for fiscal year 2017 for various agricultural programs has been misused heavily. This misappropriation of budget has been possible with the coordination of Chief of DLSO, administrative officers and fake farmers. Even the local representatives, businessmen and politicians have been accused of co-operating with them.
According to one of the officers of DLSO, Thakur has misused a large amount of budget meant for buying goats. "He deceived a lot of farmers by increasing the selling price of goats," he claimed. Besides, misappropriating the budget, Thakur has been accused of threatening the officials with transferring them and terminating their jobs if they discuss the 'internal affairs' with others.
