Life slowly limping back to normalcy in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, May 14: Life in Kathmandu Valley is crawling back to normalcy with gradual fall in the number of aftershocks of the quake.

A powerful aftershock measuring 6.8 on Richter scale that struck the country on Tuesday afternoon has put general public in quandary however life after the April 25 devastating earthquake was limping back to normalcy.



"The magnitude of aftershocks following big quake cannot be presumed. The small scaled tremors could be normally experienced during the months after high magnitude quake", said National Seismological Centre's Chief Lok Bijaya Adhikari.

Shops that have been closed down since Tuesday jolt now have began to reopening in a partial manner while vehicular operation is also visible on he road albeit low.



Two jolts this morning
Two aftershocks with epicenters in Dolakha and Kavre took place early this morning. According to NSC, a tremor measuring 4.1 on Richter scale jolted the country at 3.13 am today with epicenter in Dolakha while another 5.0 magnitude aftershock with epicenter in Kavrepalanchowk was felt at 3.23 am.
It may be noted that some 215 aftershocks of over 4.0 magnitude have struck the country following the April 25 deadly earthquake while small tremors could be experienced in coming days as well, Adhikari added. RSS
