DADELDHURA, May 17: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday opined that there should be no provisions of proportionate representation (PR) threshold in the new Election Act.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Union here in the district, Deuba argued that there should not be even one percent of PR threshold provisions for sake of early Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.[break]

On the occasion, he also expressed his unhappiness over the overwhelming comments being raised against the appointment of Lokman Sigh Karki as chief commissioner of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

“Karki was appointed as per the agreement forged among the four political parties and they should not backtrack from their earlier decision,” Deuba added.

Talking to journalists, Deuba argued that date for the upcoming CA elections should not be announced soon. He added that the date should be announced only 90 days prior to the elections.

On the occasion, Deuba also claimed that his party would emerge as the largest-single party in the country after upcoming CA election.
