The illegal Chinese motorcycles are in operation at Lomanthang, Chhoser, Chhonhup, Charrang, Surkhang and Ghami VDCs for years in lack of government monitoring. The Border Administration Office and Customs Office have started process to bring the illegal motorcycles under the ambit of law by holding the owners of the motorcycles to account.
The motorcycles were illegally imported through the Korala border checkpoint as both the offices are based in the district headquarters, it is learnt.
Chief at the Border Administration Office, Lomanthang, Krishna Raj Dhakal, said that locals brought the motorcycles without paying customs from trade fares organized between entrepreneurs of Upper Mustang and China twice in a year. RSS
