Vice-president of the Nepal Chambers of Commerce Rajendra Malla inaugurated the expo amidst a function here today.
During the program, Vice-president Malla said production of leather shoes and other leather products could not increase though there was a maximum demand for them. He added that the government should give discount in customs duty for the raw materials.
Chairman of the Leather Shoes and Goods Producers´ Association Homnath Upadhyay said that the leather shoes and other leather products have transactions worth Rs. 2 billion annually and 50 percent of it was occupied by domestic products. He stressed that it should be developed and promoted so that it could contribute for the national economy.
Director of the Sky Shoes Company Manoj Shrestha said there was the need for quality improvement in view of the users´ demand.
The expo includes different products of Bf Dear Hill, Koshelee Shoes, Leather Wings, and Takura Shoes, among others, where the costumers would get the discount of 5 to 70 per cent on their prices.
