KATHMANDU, March 8: Ladies, correct us if we are wrong, but isn’t this a great time to be a woman.

Women around the world and in our little country are getting better, if not best, at not just handling the home but offices, planes, space shuttles, companies, schools, governments, traffic, farms, salons, banks, hospitals……you get the drift right? [break]

A woman’s horizon is no longer limited to the kitchen stove or garden, though more power to women who choose to be homemakers, which by far is THE hardest job in the world and we are confident that the men agree too.

However, as we celebrate International Women’s Day today, let’s strive to be not like men, but ourselves. Let the men be because we aren’t like them, there is a reason biology happened you know.

We aren’t like men and we shouldn’t strive to be as them because when we do, we automatically put them above us and indirectly say that they are better than us.

We are equals and will be equals because we chose to live, date, be opinionated, independent and professional like women, NOT as men.

This is also a great time to be a woman because the possibilities are limitless and the excuse “because you are a woman” is no longer valid.

This generation of Nepali women have what the previous generations were deprived of, the freedom to dream and chase after them, regardless of which part of the country they come from.

The United Nation International Women’s Day theme for this year is Empower Rural Women- End Hunger and Poverty making this year, not just March 8, the perfect time to diminish the lines between urban and rural and move forward as one to empower women who as we all know play a huge role in aiding the society to move forward.
