LAHAN, March 25: Condemning the bomb attack on Bikash Traders (Jewelry shop), Lahan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) enforced a general strike in Lahan Bazaar on Saturday demanding action against the perpetrators.
Altogether eight persons were injured when an unidentified group exploded a 'pressure cooker bomb' in the shop at around 1 pm on Friday. Among the injured, the condition of seven years old Satish Yadav and his mother Dev Kumari Yadav is still critical. They have been getting treatment at the Lahan-based Saptarishi Hospital. However, the other injured have returned home after treatment, according to Lahan Police.

Sunil Kumar Mahato, chairperson of LCCI informed Republica that the strike was imposed to pressurize the police to nab the perpetrators involved in a series of bomb attacks targeting innocent locals and businessmen. There have been three bomb attacks in Siraha targeting businessmen from December 14 to March 23. According to Mahato, it has been a serious safety concern for businessmen as those involved in the attacks are still roaming free. "These kinds of attacks have threatened the safety of businesspersons and shopkeepers," said Mahato, adding, "It cannot be controlled until the security is tightened."

As mentioned in the statement issued by LCCI, not only bomb attacks but also the cases of theft and robbery are rampant in Siraha. Entrepreneurs have demanded that the police nab and take stern action against the culprits as soon as possible. They have also warned of staging continuous protests until the culprits are put behind the bars.

With major markets, industries and schools shut, normal life was affected by the strike in Lahan.
