Lawmaker's use of "offensive word" during Parliament meeting denounced

CPN-UML lawmaker Mamata Giri's implicit utterance of only 'people of monkey nature' would reject a proposal of public importance has come under fire. At the meeting, she was defending a proposal of public importance presented by the UML. "I strongly objected to the word 'monkey' referring to people, which goes against parliamentary conduct. I demanded to Speaker that the word be removed from record," said lawmaker Ram Hari Khatiwada responding to the comment by Giri.

Following this, Nepali Congress lawmaker Narayan Bahadur Karki who undertook the responsibility of Speaker in the absence of Speaker directed the Secretariat employees to remove the word.
